AFTERCARE

AFTERCARE

I truly believe good aftercare is one of the most important aspects of getting a new tattoo. Bad after care can result bad healing, which turns into a bad tattoo. My recommendation is to keep it simple. You do not need tattoo specific soaps, balms, or lotion.

My recommendations:
- Dial Gold Anti-Bacterial Soap
- Any brand of Unscented Lotion
- Palmers Raw Shea Butter

After your tattoo, I will apply second skin on it. If you have an allergy towards adhesives, I will wrap your tattoo in saran wrap.

Second skin can stay on for up to three days. The saran wrap can be left on for about five hours.

I recommend taking the second skin off under running lukewarm water.

When you take off your second skin or wrap, clean your tattoo with a non-scented anti-bacterial soap. Clean your tattoo and pat it dry with a CLEAN paper towel. Do not apply any lotions or ointment in the first two days. Clean your tattoo at least three times a day.

After two days, continue to clean the tattoo. After drying it with a clean paper towel, apply a THIN layer of lotion. Continue doing this a few times a day. A good measure is doing it morning, afternoon, and night.

Your tattoo will scab, itch, peel, and get dry. These are all normal things that happen. Tattoos will generally heal after about 2-3 weeks. Please limit sun exposure, heavy exercising, and swimming during the time it's healing.
